China Officially Approves TD-SCDMA As 3G Standard

On Friday January 20 the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry announced that it has formally approved TD-SCDMA as a 3G standard, becoming the first 3G standard to receive this approval in China. Granting the approval was a necessary step before 3G operator licenses can be issued.
